8 ΙΟΥΝΙΟΥ : ΦΡΥΚΤΩΡΙΕΣ στον ΑΣΠΡΟ ΠΥΡΓΟ

Αναβιώνουν οι Φρυκτωρίες για μια ακόμη χρονιά στις Κυκλάδες

Οι Φρυκτωρίες ήταν ένα σύστημα επικοινωνίας που χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην Αρχαία Ελλάδα. Ήταν πύργοι χτισμένοι σε επιλεγμένες βουνοκορφές έτσι ώστε ο ένας πύργος να είναι ορατός από τον επόμενο πύργο.
Οι πύργοι χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για την μετάδοση ενός συγκεκριμένου προκαθορισμένου μηνύματος. Το άναμμα του πρώτου πυρσού ακολουθούν διαδοχικά οι υπόλοιποι φρυκτωροί ώστε να αναμεταδοθεί η είδηση.
Το σύστημα αυτό επικοινωνίας το συναντάμε πρώτη φορά στα Ομηρικά χρόνια όταν η άλωση της Τροίας έγινε γνωστή στις Μυκήνες σε διάστημα λίγων ωρών.
Οι δήμοι Ανάφης, Θηρας, Κέας, Κύθνου, Μήλου, Νάξου, Πάρου, Σερίφου, Σίκινου, Σίφνου, Σύρου και Τήνου αναβιώνουν και φέτος το αρχαίο έθιμο των Φρυκτωριών.

Στη Σέριφο, φρυκτωρόι άναψαν στον Άσπρο Πύργο Κυριακή 8 Ιουνίου στις 19.00 με πρωτοβουλία του συλλόγου Ανδρομέδα.

The Phryktories are back for another year in the Cyclades.

Phryktories were a communication system used in ancient Greece. They consisted of towers built on top of certain mountains, allowing them to be seen from the next tower.
These towers served to transmit a specific, predetermined message. The lighting of the first torch was followed by the lighting of the next Phryktories, thus relaying the news.
This communication system first appeared in Homeric times, when the fall of Troy was announced to Mycenae within a few hours.
The municipalities of Anafi, Kea, Kythnos, Milos, Naxos, Paros, Serifos, Sikinos, Sifnos, Syros, Thyra, and Tinos are reviving this ancient custom of the Phryktories this year.
In Serifos, torches were lit at the White Tower (Aspro Pyrgo) on Sunday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at the initiative of the Andromeda association.
